Saphire needles do not sound as warm as the diamond counterpart and do not last as long as a diamond would. The upside is that the saphire tip is softer so less damage may occur to the vinyl depending on the weight of the tonearm. The needle is held in place on the cartridge with a small screw. Many cartridges had 2 needles, one on each side, one for 33/45rpm and one for 78rpm. If you would like one of each, please select that option. They do not last as long as the diamond because they are a softer material.
